After reading this story, I found out this story is interesting but kind of creepy and scary. When I first look at the title, I thought it is a funny story about how people are playing fun games but after reading it, I realized this story is talking about how two strange men were locked underground for one hundred days because they need to launch the missile. As a reader, I can feel the pain of those two people because they don’t know what will happen at the end, they might end up with death or they can live happily after. In addition, both of the narrators had guns, if one of them act strangely, the other will shoot him. In my opinion, if I am in this situation, I would rather kill myself because my life would be control by others and I wouldn’t know what would happen at the end, my partner might thinks that I’m strange and shoot me. I loved reading this story, one words might contains many different meaning. The title of the story also attracts me and surprises me at the end.

The girl who wouldn't talk

I think this story is interesting, it shows the conflict between the silence girl and the narrator. The silence girl doesn’t speak so the narrator tried many ways to let her speak including pulling her hair and begged her. The reason why the silence girl doesn’t speak it’s because of the culture and the environment. The narrator found out that the silence girl had some common points between them, so she decided to help her. In my opinion, when we move to some places that we never go before, we might have fear toward the people and the places because it’s new to you but I think the most important thing is no matter how it works you just need to be yourself and try to fit in other’s culture.

Summary of my science fair project

The topic of my science fair project is called “The effectiveness of disinfectant”. Since many cleaning materials contain poisonous chemicals that are capable of causing damage to the nervous system, I researched the chemicals found in eight common lab cleaners. Also included in the research was the most effective way to use each of the eight cleaners. In order to determine which cleaner worked best, I tested a desktop and window for bacteria growth before being cleaned and after. By testing two different surfaces, I will be examining whether certain cleaners work better on different types of surfaces. Once the testing is complete, I will compare the average number of bacteria before the surfaces are cleaned with the number of bacteria after the surfaces are cleaned thoroughly with the various cleaners. Before I started using the disinfectants, I tested the desk for bacteria and find three large distinct growths. After cleaning the desk with eight different disinfectants, Ajax had only one small bacteria colony on it, while both ethanol and 409 had two large bacteria colonies on it. The window began with one medium-sized growth. It was surprising to learn that the ethanol and hydrogen peroxide plates had more bacteria than the window originally started with. My hypothesis assumed hydrogen peroxide would be the best disinfectant. However, after performing all of my tests and taking the average number of bacteria found, I discovered that Ajax is overall the best cleaner and Lysol comes in a close second.

Article : Forget What You Know About Good Study Habits

This long interesting article is basically discussing how a lot of the techniques we’ve been taught to use to learn have been useless and sometimes incorrect. Variety in studying places actually helps more than staying in once single place studying for hours, somehow the brain helps you storage information easier. Also studying for hours at last minute works less than if you study an hour today, then an hour a week later, because it helps you remember better by forgetting and reminding. A lot of research has been done and it seems that most ways you’re taught to study don’t work as well as other ones that don’t seem to.
I’m actually surprise of the different ways this article mentions studying habits. Because for this few years I think I’m doing the incorrect study method. For this article I wouldn’t think about studying as the same way as this article suggests but I’m planning on trying it out and seeing the changes for me and my grades, but like the article says I still need motivation, and I got plenty of time.

DVD project: Three Gorges-The Biggest Dam In The World

Reaction:
I found this research was interesting. First I want to point out that I would love to have the experience of visiting that dam, I’ve been to the Great Wall of China, but going over there would still be a great treat for me since I enjoy viewing new things and having new experiences. I find it how scary Chinese people can think of this kind of idea also build this kind of structure it’s not only for preventing flood but it can also provide energy. For me, I think Chinese people are intelligent.
The second reason I find it scary is because China’s problem with pollution just keeps getting worse and worse, gladly there’s people trying to figure out ways to help solve this growing problem. This dam could be a great way to fix this problem, but even though ill be great help it’s not enough, people should still take part on this and help as much as they can, after all, they’re destroying their own habitat. It’s incredible how much China uses so much coal, even though it’s that harmful, for energy, after all, aren’t there many other ways to create energy? Maybe they could use some less harmful ways in order to help out in the process of purifying. I just hope that the government takes its roll and begins helping more.

The Crisis No. 1- Thomas Paine

This article was written by Thomas Paine, it is talking about how American had fought for their own rights with British. Thomas Paine had mentioned about how British people treats Americans, they went into their house stole everything they want, killed people, and destroyed their house. British had taken away lots of people’s life, because of British’s action, they decided to stand strong and fight for their own rights and own freedoms. I think Thomas Paine is a great writer, his speech was powerful, and it had influenced lots of people. In his speech, he persuaded American to do the right things, stop waiting and fight for what they deserve to get, although they America had a revolution war with British, but it had created a better life for American today. After reading this article, I think we should learn from Thomas Paine, we shouldn’t give up something we want, although it might be difficult but if we try our best on it, and fight for it maybe we will success.

Dr. Heidegger's Experiment

Dr. Heidegger is a physician; he had invented the water call “fountain of youth”, the potion can let people to become young again. One day Dr. Heidegger had called his friends and tested about the magic potion. They were too happy about the magic potion so they made some stupid decision, at the end they had messed up everything. Dr. Heidegger had also learned some mistakes from his old friends, but his friends were to crazy about the magic potion so they decided to go to Florida to find the “fountain of youth” .The facts shows that his friends did not learn from their own mistakes. After reading this story I think we should think before we do something, otherwise you will regret when you get old, we can’t go back and change the mistakes, there is no chance to make everything perfect, but you can have to chance to try your best at present. Also do something you won’t feel regret. Mistakes can make people stronger but you have to remember your mistakes and try your best to change it, not sitting there and wait for the chances to come and solve the problem for you, I think this is a really interesting story, and I enjoy it.
